Tower Songs wins PPI national radio awards

Athena Media’s music documentary Tower Songs picked up a major national radio award at the PPI Awards in Kilkenny on Friday night.
Tower Songs – a song cycle for Ballymun which told the inspiring story of how children in Ballymun created music to tell the story of their transformed neighbourhood came first in the music special category in a short list of six programmes from across radio on the island.
Tower Songs was produced by Helen Shaw and researched by Niamh Kinane. The sound engineer was Lochlainn Harte and the programme is available as a podcast –

Tower Songs was a collaboration with City Arts the arts network behind the community based programme and you can visit their site to discover more about Tower Songs and how music is being used as a community tool.
