Project: Radio programming 2010-2012

In 2010 Athena Media won an independent production contract to deliver a series 'Home Grown' into the daily primetime programme, Today with Pat Kenny. The series ran for 13 weeks and in 2011 a new commission, this time supported by the BAI Sound & Vision Scheme, produced a series called 'Made in Ireland'which runs until the end of 2011.

In addition Athena Media achieved a further independent commission for a series 'Death of an Empire' the story behind the fall of the Soviet Union, which is presented by Seamus Martin. In April 2012 Athena Media was commissioned by RTÉ Radio 1 to produce a new radio series 'The Media Show'. 'The Media Show' is presented by Brenda Power and produced by Helen Shaw with the mission to demystify how the media works, to get behind media stories in broadcasting, print and online and to show how our daily media diet is shaped. The series ran for 8 weeks on RTÉ Radio 1 from 14th April until 2nd June. To listen back to the series click here

More recently Athena Media are currently producing two radio series for RTÉ Radio 1 which are both supported through the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. 'Citizens: Lockout 1913' is a history series celebrating the centenary of the Dublin Lockout and is presented by author and expert Padraig Yeates. 'Herosongs' is an eight part radio series focusing on the different ways male and female heroes have been represented in traditional Irish song throughout the ages. The series is presented by doctoral researcher in this field, Therese McIntyre. Both series will air on RTÉ Radio 1 in 2013.
