Project: Radio documentaries 2006-2012

In 2007 Athena Media produced 'The Last Wake' on the changing traditions of death and dying in Ireland for Newstalk 106. This programme was broadcast in May 2008 and was nominated for a documentary award at the 2008 PPI Awards.

Athena Media completed a four part series on Irish cities called 'Urban Beauty, Urban Blight' in 2009. The four cities are Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.

Athena Media has just completed a third Sound & Vision funded commission for Newstalk 106 - this time a new sports series called 'Field of Dreams', an alternative take on sports in Ireland. the series was broadcast on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, 2010.

More recently Athena Media produced an 8 part series 'Winning Women', supported through the BAI Sound Vision scheme and broadcast on Newstalk. 'Winning Women' aired on Breakfast on Newstalk and features some of Ireland's elite female athletes as they prepare to compete in the London Olympic Games. The series was followed up with an hour long documentary broadcast on Newstalk entitled 'London 2012: Winning Women after the Games' featuring the female athletes from 'Winning Women' after their experiences at the Games. Athena Media is currently working on two radio series both supported through the BAI. 'Grassroots' is an eight part radio series focussing on community based initiatives around the country and will be on air every Saturday from November 3rd for eight weeks on ‘Shenanigans with Sile’, and 'Science is Everywhere' which is an eight part series that educates, celebrates and surprises listeners about science. This series will air in 2013.
